My Q&A guest for this event is Dr. Suneeti Purohit from the Green Steel group of the Mineral Resources business unit at CSIRO.
Suneeti is a metallurgist specializing in the iron and steelmaking sector. Her research primarily focuses on addressing the critical challenge of decarbonization within the hard-to-abate steelmaking sector.
Prior to joining CSIRO, Suneeti completed her PhD at Swinburne University of Technology. During her PhD, she invented a lower carbon-footprint iron ore agglomeration process that can reduce current emissions from blast furnace ironmaking by up to 18%. Most recently, she received 2.6 million AUD in funding from ARENA (Australian Renewable Energy Agency) to support this research.
Suneeti has published several journal and conference papers, book chapters, and holds three patents. She is also the recipient of several awards, including the Mission Innovation Net-Zero Industries award, the Exceptional Woman in Victorian Resources award, and CSIRO’s Science Achievement Award for Early Career Researcher.
In our conversation we will be talking about overcoming the odds to pursue your dream career, being at the forefront of working towards carbon neutral, and what it's like mixing it on the global stage.
Suneeti’s story will inspire you. I would love for you to join me.
